Additional Resources

  • What does the bystander intervention training cover?

Bystander intervention training educates individuals on recognising potentially harmful situations and intervening safely and effectively, shifting them from passive observers to proactive defenders in the prevention of harassment, abuse, or violence. Through interactive sessions, participants gain an understanding of the root causes and various forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG), while also learning about the crucial role of bystanders in prevention and how to overcome barriers to intervention. Engaging discussions challenge myths and stereotypes surrounding VAWG, fostering critical thinking and awareness. Additionally, participants acquire practical strategies to support and challenge others in real-life situations, empowering them to take meaningful action.

  • What's included in the training package?

The training programme offers extensive support and resources to enhance learning and engagement. Participants will enjoy two years of unlimited access to the Training Hub, a comprehensive online platform that facilitates peer interaction, access to training materials, and tools for continuous learning and collaboration. Additionally, a wide range of online resources, including support services and key policy templates, can be accessed directly from the learning hub. To recognise participants' commitment and understanding of bystander intervention strategies, an automatic certification is awarded upon completion of any training mode.

  • Why should you take this training?

With the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 coming into force on 26 October 2024, employers now have a legal duty to take "reasonable steps" to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace, including unwanted conduct of a "sexual nature" as defined in the Equality Act. While the law primarily seeks to protect women, it applies equally to all genders. These recent changes introduce a distinct obligation for employers to take proactive measures in preventing workplace sexual harassment. Bystander Intervention Training provides businesses with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet these legal responsibilities by enabling participants to recognise and safely intervene in situations where sexual harassment may arise. By taking proactive steps, organisations can foster a safer, more respectful work environment while ensuring compliance with the Worker Protection Act 2023. For deeper insight into the legal framework and its implications, consider enrolling in our Worker Protection Act Guidance Course.
